Advised Toronto-based Guardian Capital Group on its acquisition of Charlotte, NC-based Sterling Capital Management from Truist Financial Corporation. With approximately $76 billion in assets under management and advisement, Sterling provides a full complement of fixed income, concentrated active equity, and multi-asset solutions to a broad range of institutional and individual investors through mutual funds, separately managed accounts, model portfolios, and other commingled vehicles. The acquisition expands Guardian’s overall scale as a global asset manager and adds new capabilities and investment strategies that enhance its offering in the United States. Under Guardian’s strategic oversight, Sterling will operate as a standalone entity led by the current team of management and senior professionals.
